Minnesota Members Honored at NLSC in Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville, KY. – Jennifer Polz, SkillsUSA Minnesota’s State Director was recognized as a National Honorary Life Member of SkillsUSA on stage before a crowd of 16,000 during the opening ceremony of the 51st Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Louisville, Kentucky on June 25.  This is SkillsUSA’s highest recognition award, given for outstanding service that advances the purposes and goals of the national organization.

 

Todd Huxford, Honored as Region IV SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year

T. Huxford Region IV Award

Louisville, KY. – Todd Huxford, a heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration instructor at South Central College in North Mankato, MN, was recognized on stage as Region IV Advisor of the Year, during the opening ceremony of the 51st Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Louisville, Kentucky on June 25.   Huxford qualified for the regional award after being named the Minnesota State Advisor of the Year in 2014.

Huxford has been a SkillsUSA advisor for 25 years. Before becoming an instructor at the school, he participated in the HVACR program as a student and SkillsUSA member. Huxford credits SkillsUSA with giving him the skills to become successful. Now, he helps provide those skills to others. Huxford only had a handful of students to work with when he first became an advisor. Today, his chapter is flourishing with full campus affiliation membership.
