SkillsUSA Alumni & Friends Merit Scholarship (2013)

The SkillsUSA Minnesota Alumni & Friends Association is offering (4) annual merit-based $125 scholarships to a qualifying student. The scholarship will recognize the qualities in SkillsUSA students for whom the SkillsUSA Alumni & Friends Association support, including leadership, commitment to community service, improving the image of career and technical education, and improving the image of his/her chosen occupation.

The scholarship winner ‘s will be announced during the annual SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference in Bloomington, MN on April 7, 2013.

The competition is open to all current SkillsUSA members who will be continuing in education or attending a college/postsecondary training program in 2013-2014 school year.

Nominees for the award will be judged on the following criteria:

• Commitment to service to his or her community
• Contributions to improving the image of his or her chosen occupation and career and technical education.
• Leadership within his or her SkillsUSA chapter.

The judging committee also will review the following criteria:

• The nominee’s progress through the Professional Development Program (PDP)

A Judging Committee comprised of members of the SkillsUSA Alumni & Friends Coordinating Committee and State SkillsUSA staff will review the nominations and select the State winner’s.

Candidates can nominate themselves. All nominations must include (2) letters of recommendation from any of the following: SkillsUSA instructors; SkillsUSA advisors;,School Administration; or, Employer. Nominations must be postmarked by March 1, 2013.
