The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference is held each June in Kansas City, Missouri.  Members attend this conference representing SkillsUSA Minnesota as competitors, voting delegates, advisors, or guests.

At the SkillsUSA Championships,  more than 5,600 students compete in 96 occupational and leadership skill areas.  SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the classroom.  Competitiors earn the right to represent their state at this conference by competing at the state level and taking first place among other student competitors.

Over 500 student delegates elect the national officers, conduct the business of their organization, meet with business and industry representatives, and hear from government officials.

The conference is attended by over 15,000 individuals from across the country.  It requires for competition floor space an equivalent to more than 16 football fields and exceeds $35 million in contributions from industry and education (in donated time, equipment and material) to operate.  It is truly something you have to see to believe.  Total volunteer time donated for the week exceeds 56,000 hours.  Approximately 1,100 national corporations, trade associations and labor unions are partners and support SkillsUSA at the national level.

The competitions are held on Wednesday and Thursday during the last week in June and are open to the public.  If you would like to attend the conference as an observer, you may get additional information on the national web site at www.skillsusa.org/events/nlsc.shtmlSchools having eligible competitors or delegates receive a full information packet with forms at the conclusion of the state conference.
