SkillsUSA members were recently recognized by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees for their accomplishments.
(St. Paul, MN) Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees recognized students involved in Career and Technical Skills Competitions at their board meeting on November 16, 2011 in St. Paul. Students placing in the top three in national competitions from SkillsUSA, Business Professionals of America (BPA), Post-Secondary Agricultural Students Organization, and Collegiate DECA were recognized. Following the board meeting a reception was held honoring the students. A student representative from each organization was asked to speak on the significance the organization had made in their life. Tim Evans, Alexandria Technical and Community College was asked to speak on behalf of SkillsUSA by State Executive Director, Jennifer Polz. Students that were able to attend were Tim Evans, first place winner in Mechatronics, Jason Vos, first place winner in Residential Wiring, Matthew Rademacher, first place winner in Mechatronics, Jeffrey Triebenbach second place winner in Technical Drafting. MNSCU Chancellor, Steven Rosenstone, along with the Board of Trustees, spent a great deal of time visiting with the students and hearing their success stories. Students were accompanied by Advisor Mark Thoma, St. Cloud Technical and Community College and state executive director Jennifer Polz.
