Who is eligible?

Any high school or postsecondary student enrolled in a school that has an active SkillsUSA MN chapter is eligible for membership. Students do not have to be enrolled in a Career and Technology Education (CTE) course, but would simply have to affiliate themselves with the school’s established chapter. If your school does not have an active chapter, contact a teacher or administrator about the possibility of bringing SkillsUSA to your school!

Professional members, including advisors/educators, lead the local school chapter, and assist students in reaching his/her/their leadership and technical skill potential. The advisor organizes chapter meetings, assists with chapter fundraising, and ensures students are prepared for state and national competitions. Please remember any student in your school is eligible for membership even if he/she/they are not enrolled in a career/technology program. All member students are eligible to participate in any of the leadership contests, but are required to be enrolled in a career/technology program to be eligible for skills competitions.

How to join

Students wishing to become a member of SkillsUSA should contact the designated school chapter advisor. All members agree to abide by the rules and regulations set up by the local school chapter, as well as any regulations set by the state or national association.

Membership dues are paid to the national office on an annual basis and must submit their membership online at http://www.skillsusa-register.org/Login.aspx. Membership dues must be paid by March 1 of the current year for students to be eligible to participate in the State and National Leadership and Skills Conferences.

2023-2024 Membership Dues

  • Students: $14 ($8 National + $6 State)
  • Professional/Advisor: $26 ($20 National + $6 State)
